VatsimNotif
Get ATC calls and vPilot messages on your phone while you fly on VATSIM —
no cloud required; everything stays on your home Wi‑Fi network.
In short, how it works
- vPilot on your PC sends messages to the VatsimNotif plugin.
- The PC app (icon near the clock) forwards them to your phone.
- The Android app shows a notification even when you are not looking at the radio screen.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC with vPilot.
- The VatsimNotif Windows app (download from vatsimnotif.com).
- An Android phone with the VatsimNotif app (Google Play).
- PC and phone on the same Wi‑Fi (home router — mobile data alone will not work).
Setup (one time)
-
Install VatsimNotif on your PC
Download the installer from the website, run it, and allow Windows Firewall on your private network if prompted.
Keep the app running (icon near the clock) while you fly.
The vPilot plugin installs automatically on first launch (close vPilot if it is open). Otherwise: right-click the tray icon → Install vPilot plugin.
-
Install the app on your phone
Get VatsimNotif from the Play Store and allow notifications when asked.
Link your phone to the PC
The app walks you through this on first launch. You can also open Connection anytime.
Recommended: QR code
On the PC: right-click the VatsimNotif icon → Pair phone (QR code).
On your phone: tap Scan QR code. No IP address to type.
If the QR code does not work:
- Try Search on my Wi‑Fi (auto-find your PC).
- As a last resort, enter the address shown in the PC menu (“Copy PC address”).
When everything is OK, the home screen shows Connected to your PC.
Remember: PC on, VatsimNotif running, vPilot open, same Wi‑Fi as your phone. Otherwise you will not get alerts.
What you will receive
- When ATC calls you (e.g. “LFPG_APP is calling you”).
- Private messages and useful announcements from vPilot.
- A local history in the app to review recent messages.
Alerts usually arrive within a few seconds while the phone stays connected to the PC.
Useful settings
- Settings: sound or vibration, message preview, local history.
- Do Not Disturb: turn it off on your phone if you want to hear alerts in flight.
Troubleshooting
- Not connected to PC: same Wi‑Fi, no blocking VPN, VatsimNotif running on the PC.
- No notifications: Android permissions granted; allow background activity if your phone asks (battery saver).
- Nothing from vPilot: plugin installed, vPilot connected to VATSIM, try a test message in vPilot.
- Need help: PC menu → diagnostics / log, or visit the website.
